Upgrades $170K for Chesterfield Splash Playground

this coming season, after the existing version lost most of its splash.

Leaks and poor operating condition of the existing Splash Playground called for the work to be done, city documents showed.

A maximum of $170,000 in changes and repairs will be done by Capri Pool, after the City took bids on the work. Officials said $90,000 of the work will be covered by a Municipal Parks Grant.

The estimated cost includes a $20,000 upgrade on the ground surface of the splash pad—providing more color/pattern selection and comfort/safety, officials said.

Some of the itemized costs:

• Cushioned floor $22,000
• Mechanical installation $15,926
• Demolition $16,000
• Relocate utilities         $10,000 (underground)

• Design and engineer $  5,500

would still expect to have $700,000-plus, over the forty percent minimum requirement.

The end of 2011 Parks Sales Tax Fund reserves was projected at $3.28 million, with $1.45 million above the required minimum, documents showed.

Interesting, the Chesterfield has secured five grants totally $1,445,988 from St. Louis County Municipal Park Grant commission since the tax inception in 2000, according to the grant website.
