Ann Wagner Releases First Radio Ad

Instead of attacking her Republican opponents for the primary nomination, Wagner is focusing on the nation's Affordable Health Care Act.

A little more than a week after releasing her second TV ad, Republican frontrunner for U.S. Congress Ann Wagner has made her way onto the radio.

Wagner, a Ballwin resident, is running for the Republican nomination in the August 7 primary election, for the 2nd Congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. The district includes Chesterfield.

The seat is being vacated by U.S. Rep. Todd Akin (R-Wildwood) who is running for the U.S. Senate.

Wagner faces ; businessman John Morris of St. Peters and James O'Baker of St. Peters for the nomination.

In the minute-long ad, however, Wagner targets U.S. President Obama and the Affordable Healthcare Act, or “Obamacare”—and not her three opponents for the nomination.

“The last three years have been devastating to our society in terms of an assault on our individual freedoms and liberties,” Wagner says in the ad. “I mean you look at Obamacare, the number one thing that must be repealed and I will fight to repeal when I go to Congress.”

The announcement for the radio ad was made Monday in a press release.

“...Our first radio ad highlights the problems the Obamacare tax will cause everyday Americans and, especially, job creators,” Wagner said in the press release. “I will work on day one in Congress to repeal the Obamacare tax— without repeal, employers across the country will not have the confidence to put Americans back to work."

Wagner told Patch that her ad would be playing mostly on talk radio stations, such as 97.1 FM NewsTalk or KMOX.

"They (radio talk listeners) are very focused on the issues that matter and are paying attention to the real problems that this nation is facing," Wagner said. "It's a way to introduce myself to them so they know who Ann Wagner is and what she stands for."

Wagner said the message she wants listeners to get is that she is a "true conservative who will work to repeal Obamacare as soon as I'm elected."

"Voters need to understand this massive tax increase is a huge cause that is not going to beneffit our country and, most importantly, is not going to improve the quality of healthcare," Wagner said.

What do you think of Ann Wagner’s first radio ad? Do you agree that her campaign should be targeting the repeal of the Affordable Healthcare Act?
