Environmentally Safe Playground Comes to Chesterfield Elementary

The city of Chesterfield partnered with the Rockwood School District school on the project.

A summertime project between Chesterfield Elementary School and the city of Chesterfield focused on constructing an "environmentally safe" playground. The project culminated in a dedication ceremony on Sept. 16 as students and dignitaries celebrated the project and the school's becoming a "National School of Character."

Here's more details from Jay Scherder, marketing and media information specialist for the Rockwood School District:

"The National Wildlife Federation Certified Schoolyard Habitat Site gives students a place to learn outdoors and connect with nature while providing the habitat elements wildlife need to thrive: food, water, cover and places to raise young.

"Principal Dr. Meg Brooks attributed the school's success to integrating character education in the lives of the students. 'The Leader in Me program has been a great addition to the overall school culture. Our staff and students have the belief that we are all truly leaders,' she says.
