Positive Parenting

King of Kings (KOK) Lutheran Church will offer a six-session parenting class from 7-8pm beginning on Wednesday, January 11 in Strickert Hall.  Positive
Discipline,
based on the book of the same name, is designed to improve parenting skills and building a stronger family- traditional, single parent or blended.

The sessions are interesting and interactive; parents get
ideas to use immediately, build relationships with other parents and learn in a Christ-centered non-threatening way. KOK Preschool director, Judy Weinrich, will be facilitating this class.

“It’s important to understand the underlying causes of
behavior,” Weinrich adds, “Many times we as adults see a child misbehave and immediately react without evaluating the reason behind the behavior. This book also teaches that when we do understand the behavior, then we need to think ahead as to what the strategy will be in dealing with the behavior.”

Weinrich has been the Preschool Director at King of Kings
for 15 years and appreciates how this material offers affective parenting techniques to keep home life positive.

“In Positive Discipline, the emphasis is on winning cooperation with your children, not winning OVER them,” Weinrich said.

Free childcare/children’s classes will be provided
simultaneously. If childcare is needed for children under the age of first grade, please call the church office, 314-469-2224, no later than Monday, January 9.
