Four Parkway Students Named National Achievement Semifinalists

The students are from Parkway North and Parkway Central high schools.

Four parkway students have been named National Achievement Scholarship semifinalists for having high academic performance and leadership abilities.

The students are among 1,600 black American high school seniors who will compete for Achievement scholarship awards totaling more than $2.5 million, according to a press release from the Parkway School District.

The four semifinalists are Deanna Patelis from Parkway Central and Keandra Rowey, Andrew Stock and Christina Wesley from Parkway North.

The students will now go under a further review. Nationally, about 80 percent of the semifinalists are selected to be finalists, and about half of those go on to win an Achievement Scholarship Award.

To advance, the students must submit a detail application that includes information about their academic record, participation in school and commnity activities, demonstrations of leadership and their educational goals. As finalists, they will also be evaluated on recommendations from high school officials, a written essay and their SAT scores.

Yeah! Way to go, Students! I know two of the finalists and all four deserve kudos for all their hard work. I'm glad they are being recognized - excellent!
