A Chesterfield eighth-grader is one of 50 finalists in the United States, representing Missouri, in Google's national "Doodle 4 Google" contest, with a shot at a $30,000 scholarship to the school of her choice.

Ruimin Wu of Parkway Central Middle School has already won a trip to New York City, a Wacom digital design tablet and a T-shirt with her design, which was created on the 2013 theme "My Best Day Ever…".

"The picture shows my friends and I when we went to the theme park. We played at the water park in the day and went to the haunted house at night. We had lots of fun," Ruimin wrote in the caption with her doodle, which is online now on Google's "Doodle 4 Google" contest voting page.

Ruimin's design incorporates amusement park rides such as a ferris wheel, swings and a rollercoaster into the letters of the familiar Google logo.

Google frequently tinkers with its logo to commemorate milestones in history, famous personalities and news events.
