Marquette Mustangs Flex Muscle in Preseason Jamboree

Football jamborees always have been a way for coaches, players and fans to get a pre-season assessment on just how good—or not-so-good—our high school teams are this year.

 used the shotgun formation during play Friday, which gave their quarterbacks more time to find the big receivers downfield.

It looks as though aerial play and gang-tackling will be central to University City's team, while the Hazelwood West squad has the speed to play on the outside and bring the ball up the field.

The day wasn't without mishaps. There were dropped passes, fumbles and yellow flags.

However, there also were some spectacular catches and outside runs that will have competitors searching for the right method to shut down talented offensive lines.
