Parkway Invites Parent Input on Attendance Guidelines

Parents in the north and central areas of Parkway School District were invited to take a survey.

Some parents in Parkway School District’s north and central areas received a survey May 25 about overcrowding. Chris Jacob, president of the Parkway Board of Education, asked for parent’s input regarding the current attendance guidelines that the board can keep in mind as they ponder new guidelines for the fall of 2012.

“The Project Parkway long-range planning committee studied the overcrowding issue in the North Area last fall and recommended that the district consider changes to the northern attendance areas beginning with the 2012-2013 school year,” Jacob wrote in a letter to parents. “The school board agreed and has directed the administration to develop a possible solution.”

Cathy Kelly, a spokesperson for Parkway School District, said the survey was sent to every parent the district had an email address for. District officials will present preliminary survey findings at the Parkway School Board retreat on June 3, Kelly said.  The school board will receive an official report on the survey findings at their June 15 board meeting.
