Parkway West Student Suffers Brain Hemorrhage in Chesterfield Car Accident

Sophomore Alison Owen remains in the hospital and has received an outpouring of support from her fellow classmates, with a sign reading "Hope 4 Ali O" created in fencing at the high school.

A Parkway West High School sophomore is receiving an outpouring of support from her fellow students following a car accident on Friday that left her with a brain hemorrhage, broken vertebrae and bruised lungs.

According to student newspaper The Pathfinder, sophomore Alison Owen suffered the injuries after a vehicle she was in hit two trees Feb. 1. A St. Louis Children's Hopsital official confirmed Owen is a patient at the facility. 

The incident occurred in Chesterfield near a portion of Country Ridge Drive between Parasol Drive and Silverwood lane, which Chesterfield Police blocked off for much of the morning Feb. 2. Police said there were three other juveniles in the vehicle who suffered minor injuries.

On Monday, Parkway West students created a sign in fencing outside the high school that reads “Hope 4 Ali O.” The sign is part of a larger campaign by the student body to show their support and love for Owen that included students wearing light blue on Monday and hats on Tuesday.
