Promise Christian Academy Wins $15,000 Monsanto Grant
The Chesterfield school for students with learning disabilities was one of three winners of Monsanto's Grow St. Louis contest.
, a school in Chesterfield for children with learning disabilities, will be getting a high-tech upgrade to their classrooms thanks to a $15,000 grant awarded by Monsanto’s Grow St. Louis program.
Through Grown St. Louis, nominations were made for eligible projects affiliated with local schools and/or nonprofit organizations that helped “St. Louis grow.”
More than 15,000 people voted for two weeks and elected Promise Christian Acemdemy, Lemay Child and Family Center and Tenth Life Cat Rescue as the three organizations to receive each the grant award.
“Now that we’ve ended the first year of the program, we are thrilled with the wide variety of winning organizations in the Grow St. Louis program,” said Jessica Simmons, Grow St. Louis program lead, in a press release. “It’s exciting to see St. Louisans supporting their community in so many different and positive ways. I’m thrilled the grants have the opportunity to make such a strong impact in the St. Louis area.”
The Academy plans to use the money to buy promethean boards, which are LCD touch-sensitive whiteboards with integrated sound systems, for each of its classrooms, according to the release.
