How Marquette's Scholar-Athlete Overcame Injury, Other Obstacles

Marquette High School student Matt Hink was recently announced as one of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s 2013 Scholar-Athletes, which is bestowed on one senior from each school in the Post-Dispatch coverage area. The basketball and baseball player has been named first-team all-conference in both sports, according to his profile on Post-Dispatch.

Hink said he’s dealt with several injuries over the years.

“Throughout it all I’ve turned to Christ and put it in His hands. My obstacles have given me a whole new outlook on life and I have to say that I couldn't have wished for any other way to go through high school in both sports and academics."

This year's 150 scholar-athletes were honored May 15 prior to the Cardinals-Mets game at Busch Stadium, according to Post-Dispatch.
