Lafayette Holds Marquette Scoreless in Playoff Win

With a 35-0 route of the Mustangs, Lafayette advances to rival Eureka for the district championship.

A merciless defense helped Lafayette remain undefeated and vanquish Marquette from the playoffs with a 35-0 win Friday night.Β 

The stifling defensive play by the Lancers held Marquette to only 111 yards of total offense, according to a story from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Mustangs are hardly alone in struggling to score against Lafayette as the victory marked their seventh shut-out of the season.Β 

Marquette Coach Ryan Thornhill praised the toughness of his squad in face of such a tough foe and said his players "competed on every play."
