Parkway Central's Jonathan Bonner Signs with Notre Dame

The Chesterfield resident and bruising defensive end/linebacker received an offer after impressive the coaching staff during a summer camp.

After entertaining offers from colleges around the country, including the University of Missouri, Parkway Central's Jonathan Bonner announced this week that he has signed to play football with Notre Dome.

A defensive end/linebacker who will be a senior this year, the 6-foot-3, 253 lbs. Bonner received an offer from the college after wowing their coaching staff at a summer camp hosted by Notre Dame, according to a report on ESPN.

Bonner, a Chesterfield resident, told ESPN that during the camp, he spent a lot of time in one-on-one drills against offensive lineman and that “the coaches said they couldn’t find someone to beat me.”

He said his choice of Notre Dame was based on several factors, include the program’s academics, its reputation and the fact that he has several family ties to the area. His uncle, Don Knott, played for the Irish in the 1970s.
