Rescue Center Claims Save Of Cardinals Rally Squirrel

Wildlife Rescue Center in West County says about $100 cost.

Wildlife Rescue Center in West County takes the credit for saving the storied "Rally Squirrel" that ran in front of home plate in Busch Stadium during play of the 2011 National League playoff games with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Apparently, the Wildlife Rescue Center was called in to corral the squirrel and rehabilitate the rodent to a more wildlife-friendly area. It's located in Ballwin.

Cardinals fans heralded the common grey squirrel scampering about as a sign of good fortune, and thus Rally Squirrel's fame shot up. Rally towels, rally shirts, rally hatsβ€”all kinds of merchandise during the playoffs were printed with a Rally Squirrel-like drawing.
