Cable Failure Causes More Than 1,000 to Lose Power Sunday

Some Chesterfield residents experienced a brief power outage Sunday morning and afternoon.

Update 4: Ameren Missouri Communications Executive Lisa Manzo said the failure of a distribution cable outside of substation in the area of Woods Mill and Conley roads caused the outage.

At around 11:23 a.m. Sunday, Manzo said the cable stopped transmitting power, impacting a little over 1,000 customers. Manzo said Ameren immediately began redirecting power and had service restored to all customers by 1:20 p.m.

Update 3:
An Ameren representative said that the cause of the outage is unknown, but they will be investigating to find out exactly what may have happened.

Update 2:
And we're back. Power just came back on at my house at about 1:20 p.m. Still checking to see what the cause of the outage was in the first place.

Update: Officials with the Chesterfield Police Department and Monarch Fire Protection District each said they have not dispatched any personnel for a downed wire or similar incident.

I just got home from church a few minutes ago and found out that I didn't have power at my house in Chesterfield. It turns out I'm not the only one.

Ameren reports that more than a thousand customers are without power in the 63017 ZIP code. We're checking to see what the cause of the problem is, but the report from Ameren says power should be back on by about 1:30 today.

The outage apparently started at about 11:23 a.m., according to Ameren's website. The site's outage map says 1,117 customers are without power right now.
