URGENT: Chesterfield Opens 'Cooling Station' Until Heat Wave Breaks

Emergency cooling location opens 4pm Wednesday near Valley athletic complex.

A public "cooling off" station is open in 24 hours a day, after weather temperatures showed no signs of dipping below daytime highs of 100 degrees.

The air-conditioned environment provides relief for those feeling the stress of high and prolonged temperatures, for whatever reason.

During last year's heat wave, several older people from the St. Louis area were found dead from heat-related causes in living conditions without adequate cooling systems and/or fans.
