Junior League Names Chesterfield Women Officers

Four to lead the Junior League of St. Louis in the coming year.

The Junior League of St. Louis (JLSL) recently appointed 18 League members to guide the JLSL for the 2011-2012 year, and four Chesterfield women are among those leaders.

Sue Felling of Des Peres will continue to lead the league as president. Board members named include:

  • Nancy Rodgers of Chesterfield, vice president of membership
  • Krista Hunt of Chesterfield, nominating chairwoman
  • Susan Schenberg of Chesterfield, vice president of community programs
  • Stephanie Tornberg of Chesterfield, vice president of communications
  • Emily Britt of Wildwood, vice president of training/corporate secretary
  • Jeanne Flowers of Wildwood, strategic planning chairwoman
  • Allie Ray of Ballwin, vice president of internal operations/treasurer
  • Maureen Strasheim of Creve Coeur, vice president of fundraising, research and development
  • Stacie Bloodworth of St. Peters, fundraising, research, development and evaluation chairwoman
  • Michelle Dillon of Clayton, new member chairwoman
  • Mary Griggs of Town and Country, member connections chairwoman
  • Connie Kraus of Creve Coeur, assistant treasurer/budget chairwoman
  • Betsy Meyland-Smith of Clayton, membership development chairwoman
  • Lisa Shepherd of Frontenac, program research, development & evaluation chairwoman
  • Treva Smith of Fairview Heights, IL, parliamentarian chairwoman
  • Caroline Wenberg of Creve Coeur, public relations/marketing/branding chairwoman
  • Rita Witler of Clayton, sustainer chairwoman

The Junior League is an organization of younger women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

According to the group's materials, its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

The organization is well-known throughout the region for its cinnamon rolls that are sold in fundraising. The group also sells cookbooks.

For community involvement, JLSL volunteer members focus on issues, such as leading petitions to stop cyberbullying.

Kids in the Kitchen is a national program established by the Association of Junior Leagues International to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity.
