Tea Party activists descended on an IRS office in west St. Louis County today to protest the scandal that has engulfed the agency. The protest came as hearings were held in Washington D.C. about the scandal in which the IRS targeted the tax exemption applications of Tea Party-affiliated groups for extra scrutiny. According to a report from Patch partner Fox 2, the group staged their demonstration at noon at an IRS office on Town and Country Commons Drive, near the Charter Communications building. The area is located off Highway 141 just east of Chesterfield. Several Tea Party groups in St. Louis have been posting about the event online and on Twitter, including pictures of today’s event. The new administrative positions are located at three Chesterfield area schools.
The Parkway School District recently named its new administrators for the upcoming school year, including leadership positions at three Chesterfield area schools. Dr. Alicia Bottorff has been named assistant principal at River Bend Elementary for the 2013-14 school year, replacing Jodi Meese. Bottorff came to Parkway in 2011 and is completing her second year as assistant principal at Craig Elementary. Anne Miller will be an assistant principal at West Middle. Miller has been administrative intern at West Middle since 2010. Prior to that, she had been a sixth-grade teacher at South Middle and West Middle beginning in 1999. As the 2013 Senior PGA Championship gets underway this week, Chesterfield drivers may be impacted by road closures and detours as they make their way around West County.
As previously reported by Patch, the Senior PGA Championship takes place at Bellerive Country Club in Town and Country May 21 - 26. The governor was in town to mark the start of construction on a new, $150 million global headquarters for Reinsurance Group of America.
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon stopped by Chesterfield Monday to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new, $150 million global headquarters for Reinsurance Group of America. The Fortune 500 business has been in Chesterfield since the early 1990s, located in a building on Timberlane Manor Parkway. Their new HQ will be next to Chesterfield City Hall on Swingley Ridge Road and will hold two five-story buildings joined by a two-story atrium when it is finished, a total of 405,000 square feet. On Monday, Nixon said the project represents an approximately $140 million investment into the local economy and shows that businesses consider Missouri a “safe and reliable place” to invest. A large vacant lot at the corner of Kehrs Mill and Strecker roads near the Goddard School may soon be a home to a new, 58-acre residential subdivision. The city of Chesterfield has posted a public hearing for the development, which is called the Arbors at Kehrs Mill. Chesterfield Planning Director Aimee Nassif said the subdivision is being built by McBride and Sons and will contain “single-family detached dwellings.” In more plain terms, this means that it will be all single-family homes, not duplex or apartments. McBride has requested a change of zoning for the property, from E-1 Estate District to a PUD, or planned unit development. A public hearing on the zoning change is scheduled for May 29 at 7 p.m. at Chesterfield City Hall. The …

Check out all those new multi-thousand dollar electronic signs at the Parkway chhools. Yesterday the Parkway South Highschool sign displayed a temperature reading of 89 degrees, while the new Hanna Woods Elementary school sign read 96 degrees. What's the point?
