The courts are ready in Chesterfield. Take our poll.
The shuffleboard courts are on the cement slab at Chesterfield's newest park, Eberwein—also known as the dog park. Bring your own cues and discs for play—some call them tangs and biscuits. The courts are near the entrance to the park, between the bathrooms barn and the road, Old Baxter. The city allotted about $8,000 to construct the courts. The park is located behind Dierberg's Market Place (Clarkson and Baxter roads) and bounded by Baxter and Old Baxter roads, and Highcroft Drive. The park also has community gardens, a walking trail, and a butterfly garden in the works.

This year's inductees include those who made an impact on amateur baseball locally as a player, as coaches or as umpires. Sometimes, they've done all three.
It might have felt like the Sheraton Westport Chalet was something like a field of dreams Thursday night in Maryland Heights. For one night, people of all ages came together to honor the past, present and baseball future during ceremonies for the 39th annual St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame inductions, which also included the presentation of the first Jack Buck Media Award, the Bob Broeg Award and the Bob Burnes Award. Also honored were local finalists for the Hall's Future Stars Award. Check out our photo gallery to find out more about the winners, including some familiar faces for people from St. Charles County to Parkway Schools as well as the St. Louis Cardinals.

The team has the sixth overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.
The St. Louis Rams already have made one of the biggest draft-related moves of the offseason, trading the second overall selection in this year's draft to the Washington Redskins, who are widely expected to take Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III after the Indianapolis Colts pick Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. Round 1 will be held Thursday evening, rounds 2-3 on Friday night and the remainder of the draft will take place Saturday. The Rams are holding an official draft night party Thursday at Dave & Busters in Maryland Heights, featuring appearances by players and cheerleaders and the team's Mascot, Rampage. At the moment, the Rams have the sixth pick, and have needs at a variety of positions, including wide receiver, cornerback, …

POLL: But are we over him?
Former Cardinals first-baseman Albert Pujols said Friday morning that he's "way past" missing St. Louis, according to CBSsports.com Baseball Insider Danny Knobler. Pujols joined the Anaheim Angels beginning this season, after being a fan favorite with St. Louis for a decade. He's reportedly had five hits in six games this season, no home runs. Knobler reported Pujols, in New York, was asked if there's anything he missed about St. Louis: "I'm way past that. I have a new family, new teammates." Friday, 2:45 p.m. is opening home game for the Cardinals, against the Chicago Cubs. Rain blew through the St. Louis region Friday noon, delaying first pitch. Chesterfield's modern founder laid the groundwork.
Fans will get their first taste of solar-cooked hot dogs at the Cardinals home Opening Day Friday the 13th, at Busch Stadium. Those are green wieners. “This is all part of the St. Louis Cardinals’ commitment to green its game,” according to Joe Abernathy, vice president of stadium operations. Take the poll at bottom: Should hot dogs be cheaper now? Sachs Electric, a company started by Chesterfield's family of its modern founder, is one of three companies partnered with the St. Louis Cardinals to bring solar energy to Busch Stadium, for the first time. Busch Stadium is the 6th major league ball park to go with solar panels for energy. “Sachs Electric has served the Cardinals for more than 70 years, including the floodlighting and electronic…

Look it up—conspiracy to assault is just not "aggressive coaching."
I have to admit that I still find myself referring to our local professional football team as the Los Angeles Rams. Of course, there was a time when the team was the Cleveland Rams, before moving to L.A. in 1946. So if someone asks me about great Rams quarterbacks, I think of Roman Gabriel or Norm Van Brocklin—and not Kurt Warner. The odds seem pretty good they will be the L.A. Rams again in the not-too-distant future. I realize this doesn’t sit well with Chesterfield residents who have forked over big bucks for the Personal Seat License, just to have the right to buy a season ticket. Now I never thought of the football Cardinals as the Chicago Cardinals, because when they moved to St. Louis in 1960, I was only 7 years old, and too busy …

With the St. Louis Cardinals' home opener just days away, and with the rival Cubbies coming to town, now's the time for some trash talk — in two words.
You've heard the expression before, right? "I've got two words to say about that!" Well, this is the Patch version, coming ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals' home opener on Friday in which the Redbirds face off against the Chicago Cubs. Starting pitchers are expected to be Jeff Samardzija for the Cubs vs. Adam Wainwright for the Cards. After the Cardinals ruined the home opener for the Miami Marlins with a 4-1 victory in the team's new ballpark, and again ruined the home opener for the Milwaukee Brewers with an 11-5 victory, we have our heart set on a win for the Cards' opener at 2:15 p.m. Friday. The Cardinals get their first home game as they launch the season after their 11th World Series victory last year. The nationally syndicated "…

Some Chesterfield teams already playing.
Chesterfield staff was working Friday out at Chesterfield Valley Athletic Center, mowing lawns, painting and putting finishing touches on upkeep started in February. The CVAC also has a new parcel of property undergoing preparation for use as ball fields, on the east end of the campus. Earlier this year, staff was tearing down old and building new dugouts for some of the fields. Chesterfield City Council okayed $32,000 for the dugouts and materials. The old ones were grey cinderblock, the new ones are multi-colored. Officials said the city was fertilizing and mowing fields earlier this year—likely similar to residents' lawns—because of the extraordinarily warm weather. Some teams have already started playing at CVAC. By July, the athletic …
