Parkway Student Who Suffered Brain Injury On the Road to Recovery

Alison Owen has left the intensive care unit of St. Louis Children's Hospital, according to updates provided by her family, and has begun physical therapy.

The Parkway West sophomore who suffered a brain hemorrhage and other injuries during a car accident earlier this month is out of intensive care. Alison Owen remains a patient at St. Louis Children’s Hospital but since moving out of the ICU on Feb. 12, she has been undergoing physical therapy and making good progress, according to Owen’s profile on CaringBridge.com. Owen’s injuries, including broken vertebrae and bruised lungs, were the result of a car accident in Chesterfield Feb. 1. Her family has been providing updates on her recovery through CaringBridge and her fellow high school students have produced an outpouring of support in response. Parkway West Students Rally Around Sophomore Injured in Car Accident

Students at the high school have organized events throughout the week to show their support for Alison Owen and her family. Owen suffered a brain hemorrhage and other injuries in a car accident Feb. 1 and remains hospitalized.

Owen's family is providing updates on her progress through the website Caring Bridge. Family and friends may also send messages of support and encouragement on the site.  Related stories:

Parkway West Student Suffers Brain Hemorrhage in Chesterfield Car Accident

Sophomore Alison Owen remains in the hospital and has received an outpouring of support from her fellow classmates, with a sign reading "Hope 4 Ali O" created in fencing at the high school.

A Parkway West High School sophomore is receiving an outpouring of support from her fellow students following a car accident on Friday that left her with a brain hemorrhage, broken vertebrae and bruised lungs. According to student newspaper The Pathfinder, sophomore Alison Owen suffered the injuries after a vehicle she was in hit two trees Feb. 1. A St. Louis Children's Hopsital official confirmed Owen is a patient at the facility.  The incident occurred in Chesterfield near a portion of Country Ridge Drive between Parasol Drive and Silverwood lane, which Chesterfield Police blocked off for much of the morning Feb. 2.
