American Girl, a high-end doll store and bistro, is hiring for its 12th store nationwide, in Chesterfield. The store, to officially open April 21 at Chesterfield Mall, has been under renovation since last fall. The store may actually open a day or two before that, preparing for the event. American Girl said it is hiring for sales, stock, loss prevention, doll hair salon, associates, servers, hosts and cooks. American Girl clinched a lease agreement with Chesterfield Mall management and expects to open a store in the former Wapango restaurant by Spring. The store will be on the opposite corner from The Cheesecake Factory and AMC movie theater—with an entrance on the outside of the complex. A high-end lifestyle store for preteens could move into Chesterfield Mall. City planning officials OK'd American Girl to renovate a former pan-Latin restaurant into a full service store. However, reports surfaced that American Girl is still in negotiations over a store lease, and American Girl is also looking at The Galleria mall. The 25-year-old company sells 18-inch tall, $100 dolls, matching outfits for girls and dolls, furniture and more. American Girl stores in New York and Chicago host fashion shows, dining, birthday parties, and other events for girls and dolls. There are just 11 stores nationwide.
