Two Ex-Parkway Students' Deaths Ruled Murder-Suicide

May 7 deaths belie plan for fresh start in California.

The deaths of a Parkway West High School graduate and her daughter—a former Parkway district student, were deemed a murder-suicide, California police said Monday. After an 11-week investigation, police in the San Francisco Bay Area said Amy Freeman Burton, 37, shot and killed her daughter Ainsley Freeman, 13, and then shot and killed herself.  The bodies were discovered May 7 in the kitchen of their Pleasanton, CA home by Amy Burton's husband, Christopher Burton, 28. He was initially a "person of interest" but never labeled a suspect by police as he gave a full statement and cooperated in the investigation. Two Ex-Parkway Students Shot to Death

Chesterfield grandmother blames texts in mother-daughter deaths.

UPDATED 2:45 p.m., Wednesday Chesterfield native Amy Freeman Burton, 37, and her daughter Ainsley Freeman, 13, were found shot to death in their San Francisco Bay Area home Monday evening. They had reportedly moved from the St. Louis area in December. A Parkway School District spokesperson said both mother and daughter attended Parkway schools. Mother Amy Freeman Burton graduated from Parkway West High School in 1993. Daughter Ainsley Freeman attended Claymont Elementary School in Ballwin "on and off from kindergarten through fifth grade." According to the Pleasanton, CA Patch, Burton's husband, Christopher Burton, reportedly found the victims and called police.
