Chesterfield Chiropracter Anthony Calandro Convicted of Fraud

He faces up to 10 years in prison for scheme that involved billing insurance companies for procedures that never occurred.

Chesterfield chiropractor Anthony Calandro and the Chiropractic Accident Centre of Crestwood have been convicted of federal healthcare fraud.  A press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office stated that Calandro had billed insurance companies for x-rays that were never taken and for appointments that patients canceled or had missed.  The conviction could lead to serious punishment with Calandro facing up to ten years in prison and/or a fine of up to $250,000 for the charge of fraud. He was charged in July his sentencing is set for Feb. 7, 2013. He was also convicted of three counts of making false statements while his corporation as a whole was convicted of four counts of making false statements. Each count carries a possible sentence of …

FBI Says Chesterfield Chiropractor Guilty of Massive Billing Fraud

Fabrications were ongoing since 2006, investigation claims.

A Chesterfield resident and chiropractor with a 30-year practice was indicted Wednesday by a Federal grand jury on felonies that included billing for health care that didn't happen, and falsifying thousands of documents for reimbursement from insurance. Anthony William Calandro, 55, could face a maximum of up to 30 years in prison and $3.75 million in fines that include his chiropractic business—if found guilty. Calandro's billing assistant Sherry Rueter, 62, was indicted on identical charges. Using false codes, the pair submitted thousands of false claims for missed appointments.  The practice is located at 9109 Watson Road in Crestwood, Chiropractic Accident Centre.  Law enforcement said the business allegedly billed insurance companies …
