Historical Writer To Speak in Authors Series

Candace O'Connor is a freelance author and editor who specializes in researching and writing histories.

An historical writer is the latest installment in Chesterfield Arts’ River Valley Author Series, which is meant to provide an opportunity for aspiring authors to interact with established ones. Candace O’Connor will speak Wednesday evening at Chesterfield Arts. The series, which follows a casual format and is free and open to all, allows for plenty of time for audience questions. O’Connor has written seven books, including several corporate histories, such as Beginning a Great Work: Washington University, 1853-2003, which was commissioned for Washington University’s 150th anniversary. St. Louis native Bob Baker will share his story and offer advice to aspiring authors as a part of the River Valley Authors Series.

St. Louis author, musician and self-publisher Bob Baker will share his secrets to self-publishing Wednesday night as part of the River Valley Author's Series. The series, hosted and sponsored by Chesterfield Arts, is meant to provide an opportunity for aspiring authors to interact with established ones. "We try to choose successful authors who...have something to say about how they got there and what it takes to become successful," said Bud Hirsch, the program's coordinator and a board member of Chesterfield Arts. Chesterfield Arts Launches Author Series

Debut author will discuss her book "How Not to Marry the Wrong Guy."

The new River Valley Authors Series isn't designed just to give writers a chance to present their works to an audience. The goal is to give authors and readers the opportunity to interact. "The idea is to have a very accessible program with lots of interaction with the audience," said Bud Hirsh, who oversees the program and is a board member of Chesterfield Arts, the nonprofit organization sponsoring the series. "Popular subjects, successful authors, good stories to tell, fun for everyone."
