Chesterfield Golf Galaxy Teeing Up New Look, New Location

The retailer is moving a short distance away to the space formerly occupied by Big Lots in Chesterfield Valley and re-designing its storefront.

The vacant Big Lots store in Chesterfield Valley will soon have a new occupant, but it will be a famaliar face to the area's golf enthusiasts.  Golf Galaxy has filed plans with the city indicating its interest in moving a few blocks west of its current location at 16 THF Boulevard to the 32,000 square foot space, according to Chesterfield planner Aimee Nassif.  Along with the move, the national golf retailer will be unveiling a new prototype storefront design for the Chesterfield location.  In plans submitted to the city, architects said it will be the first Golf Galaxy in the U.S. with the updated branding. The re-design will be meant to imply the aesthetic of a classic two-story golf course club house, complete with a mock-up of a PGA-…

The Chesterfield Big Lots Is Officially Closed

The mostly empty store held its final sale on Tuesday with the remaining merchandise marked down by 90 percent.

A little more than a month after announcing it would be going out of business, the Chesterfield Big Lots shut its doors permanently yesterday. A handful of shoppers perused the largely gutted floor Tuesday afternoon, searching for bargains among the last remaining aisles. The interior of the retailer was mostly bare, with large portions sealed off by yellow caution tape, and the few items that remained were marked down by 90 percent. It offered a starkly contrasted view from May 20, 2011, when the 23,000-square-foot store opened with a ribbon cutting attended by Chesterfield Mayor Bruce Geiger and a line of eager shoppers. Asked in December, Manager Travis Chapman declined to say why the location was closing. The move could be due to …

I've been a customer of the company for about 15 years or more, well before they started rapid expansion into west county suburbs. My usual habit was to visit store 2-3 times per year spending about $100 per visit on assorted stuff from multiple departments including packaged foods, some of which I could find no where else. Cheapest tarps in town for collecting leaves, electronics including a …   more ›

Chesterfield Big Lots Going Out of Business

The store is currently discounting all merchandise by 20 percent.

The Big Lots in Chesterfield Valley is closing after being open for less than two years.  Store Manager Travis Chapman confirmed that the store is going out of business Friday but declined to say why or when it would be officially closed. The store is currently marking down all merchandise by 20 percent and the savings could increase further.  "We are going to have to ramp it up until it's all gone," Chapman said.  The 23,000-square-foot store opened with a ribbon cutting May 20, 2011, taking over a spot that had previously been occupied by a Circuit City.  The national chain offers close-out prices on brand name products but has recently been plagued by a federal investigation into its CEO and Chairman Steven Fishman, who announced his …

The Ribbon's Cut: Big Lots is Officially Open

The store gave $2,500 to Wild Horse Elementary.

The Big Lots in Chesterfield Valley officially opened Friday.  Big Lots, which offers closeout prices on brand-name products, has its soft opening about a week ago. The ribbon-cutting ceremony occurred at 9 a.m. Friday, and about 15 customers were lined up and ready to peruse the aisles for deals.  The store presented a $2,500 check to Wild Horse Elementary School, which Principal Karen Kieffer said would likely be used to purchase new computers. Located in the old Circuit City space, the store is about 23,000 square feet and has a furniture department along with the typical Big Lots offerings of toys, housewares, seasonal products and more. Gift cards and swag are being given to customers Friday while supplies last.

Big Lots to Open in Chesterfield in Late May

The store's grand opening will be May 20.

Chesterfield shoppers will soon have a new store to visit in the Chesterfield Valley. Big Lots, which offers closeout prices on brand-name products, is slated to open on May 12 in Chesterfield Commons East. The store's grand opening celebration is scheduled for a week later on May 20.  "When we open doors on the 12th, it will be business as usual and everyone will find the same great deals," Toni Fink, spokeswoman for Big Lots, said. Special deals will be offered at the grand opening. Details on those sales will appear in that week's sales papers, Fink said.  As part of its grand opening celebration, Big Lots will donate $2,500 to Wild Horse Elementary School. Fink said new stores always make a donation to the nearest school when opening…
