Entertainment Store to Open in Former Borders Space

The "St. Louis Business Journal" recently reported Bam! would open in Chesterfield Mall.

The old Borders in Chesterfield Mall won't be vacant much longer. Bam!, which buys, sells and trades movies, books, video games and more will open in the space in early June, according to the retailer's Facebook page. The St. Louis Business Journal recently reported that mall owner CBL & Associates Properties said the store will take over the space at Chesterfield Mall. Another Bam! location will open in the former Borders location in Mid Rivers Mall in St. Peters, too. The locations are the first for the store in the St. Louis area.  According to the store's Facebook page, Bam! will open its doors on June 10. Chesterfield Borders Will Close by End of April

The company announced it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Wednesday.

The Borders in Chesterfield Mall will close as part of the company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy reoganization. The store will continue to serve customers until its closing date, which hasn't been determined.  The Ann Arbor, MI-based company announced it would close 200 stores nationwide Wednesday. Chesterfield is one of three stores in the St. Louis metro area to close. The other two are in Ballwin and St. Peters. Stores in Brentwood, Creve Coeur, Sunset Hills, Mehlville, Fairview Heights and Edwardsville will stay open. Three other Missouri stores will close in Springfield, St. Joseph and Kansas City. Good riddance. Several years ago, I worked at this dump and despite being a model employee, was granted a 3 cent raise as "reward" for my efforts. What a slap in the face! By far the worst place I have ever worked and am happy to see them go under.   more ›
