Chesterfield Spending $221,000 for "Aesthetic Enhancements" to New Bridge

The project will add the city logo and other features to the Chesterfield Airport Road Bridge being constructed over Highway 40, but the cost caused concerns among the city council's new members.

When the Missouri Department of Transportation finishes building the new Chesterfield Airport Road Bridge over Highway 40, it will bear several “aesthetic enhancements” courtesy of the city of Chesterfield. The city council has appropriated $221,000 for the work, which will install a “City of Chesterfield” logo on the walls facing oncoming traffic and add stains to the bridges barrier walls. Chesterfield Planning and Public Works Director Michael Geisel said it will be similar in appearance to the bridges over Route 141 on the east end of the city. Chesterfield Monarch Levee Trail Closing at Boone Bridge Starting March 11

The closure only applies to the portion of the trail adjacent to and underneath I-64.

The following information was provided by the Missouri Department of Transportation. The Monarch Levee Trail in Chesterfield Valley will be closed under the I-64 Daniel Boone Missouri River Bridge beginning Monday, March 11 until construction on the bridge is complete in late 2015. The trail, which runs the length of Chesterfield Valley, will be open except for the piece adjacent to and underneath I-64, approximately 1,000 feet either side of the bridge. The trail must be closed for safety reasons due to the construction work of the bridge. Boone Bridge Rock Blasting Begins Tuesday

MoDOT begins rock blasting on the west side of the Daniel Boone Bridge Tuesday, and drivers can expect to see traffic delays starting Thursday.

The Missouri Department of Transportation begins rock blasting along Highway 40 at the west end of the Daniel Boone Missouri River Bridge Tuesday. It's part of the department's reconstruction work on the span of bridge. MoDOT stated in a news release that the work is weather permitting, and that the blasting is not expected to impact drivers until Thursday, February 21. That is the first blast that will likely stop traffic for approximately 10 minutes at 2 p.m. MoDOT said that blasting will occur every day, or every other day, Monday through Friday, for approximately one month.   Highway 40 traffic will be impacted for those 10 minutes, Eastbound traffic will be slowed at the Route 94 interchange and westbound traffic will be slowed …
