Jet's Pizza Looks To Land In Chesterfield

Michigan-based deep dish company will add a dozen sites to St. Louis the next 2 years.

Jet’s Pizza is ready to contend with the other players in the St. Louis Metro, according to Nick Miller, a manager at the Sterling Heights-based chain's restaurant in Ballwin. “First we are going into Webster Groves then Chesterfield, before we open two locations in Creve Coeur,” said Miller, who added that the goal is to put 5 stores into the community this calendar year, with 8-10 in the following year. The Chesterfield location will be near the McDonald’s at I-40 and Clarkson Road. “We serve deep dish pizza and our dough is made fresh each day. We don’t use any frozen products,” said Miller. Jet’s menu features pizza, side kicks (wings and breads); salads, subs and drinks. The restaurants are owned locally by four investors. What's your…

When Is the New Egg & I Diner Opening in Chesterfield?

Soon; they're starting to hire their employees now.

The new breakfast-and-lunch diner scheduled to move into the former Veritas space along Clarkson Road now has a opening date. The Egg & I is set to open April 29, and managers there are starting to recruit employees for the new restaurant, which would be the second one in the franchise to open in the St. Louis area. News first broke about the restaurant, which generally closes mid-afternoon each day after the lunch rush, in January. The news of the new restaurant at 1722 Clarkson Road came a few weeks after Veritas moved out for a new location in Ellisville. This will be The Egg & I's second location in the area; the first location is in Des Peres at 11692 Manchester Road. RELATED ARTICLES

Scarecrow Officially One of Chesterfield's Newest Restaurants

Formerly known as the Press Box, the location was purchased by new owners purchased in January and set about transforming it from sports bar into upscale casual restaurant. The change is now largely completed.

The Press Box in Chesterfield has officially transformed into Scarecrow, complete with new signage and branding.  The change started in early January when the sports bar was purchased by friends Chris Mertz and Shawn Mulholland with the intention of turning it into an upscale-casual restaurant. The business remained open as they renovated the interior and on Jan. 23, the new signs went up, signaling the transition. The menu is receiving an overhaul along with the interior. The pair brought in a new executive chief to help bring a new focus to the restaurant's fare with the goal of creating distinct menus for lunch, dinner and the bar. Small plates, steaks and high-end pizzas will be a big part of the new offerings.  On Tuesday, Mulholland …

What a difference a month has made! A repeat visit to Scarecrow found a much better experience...food was greatly improved: I had the lunch special for the day, a terrific chicken parm sandwich. The house dressing (an herb vinaigrette) is still problematic; I couldn't detect any acid of any kind whatsoever, so my salad was basically drenched in oil. Our server was great, though, and recommended I…   more ›

'The Egg & I' Diner Moving into Old Veritas Space in Chesterfield

The chain has locations in 21 states, including Missouri and was founded in Fort Collins, CO.

A new breakfast-and-lunch-only diner is planning to move into the space once occupied by Veritas in the Dierbergs plaza at Clarkson and Baxter roads. A sign in the window of the former Veritas says The Egg & I is coming soon. The chain's existing breakfast-and-lunch diners operate from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. (2:30 p.m. on weekends). The restaurant also has a location in Des Peres, at 11692 Manchester Road, according to Yelp. The chain has locations in 20 states besides Missouri. The Chesterfield location at 1722 Clarkson Road would be the second in the region, according to the Gut Check blog at the Riverfront Times. The Times reported that "Brentwood native Robert Gombas, along with two business partners, will be the exclusive franchisee for The…

Press Box to Become Upscale Scarecrow

The sports bar on Chesterfield Parkway has new owners and will soon be getting a new menu and new look as well.

Goodbye sports bar, hello upscale-casual dining.  The Press Box on Chesterfield Parkway changed ownership earlier this month and will soon have a new name, menu and redesigned interior.  New owners Chris Mertz and Shawn Mulholland plan to transform it into the upscale Scarecrow and fill a niche in the Chesterfield restaurant scene with food that's steps above the average casual dining chains that dot the landscape but still approachable. "Initially, we hope to create and promote this idea that everything we are doing is of the highest quality, but it's not something that's going to break [your bank]," Mertz said.  There are no plans to close the restaurant while the interior is being redesigned. Mertz said he doesn't yet have a firm date …

Compliments to Chef Parker, the food is to die for! Had the Ravioli Special with Mushroom sauce, OMG!! Only problem that could hurt Scarecrows survival is the terrible service - long wait for our food and had to constantly ask for refills.   more ›
