And one business next door most of us know.
Fortune Magazine released its 500 largest companies recently, and Monsanto was among them. Monsanto has a campus in Chesterfield, next door to City Hall on Chesterfield Parkway. The headquarters is Creve Coeur. Monsanto ranked No. 224, up from 234 last year, with $11.8 billion in annual revenue, St. Louis Business Journal reports. Reinsurance Group of America, with its global headquarters in Chesterfield, ranked No. 289, up from 290 last year, with $8.8 billion in annual revenue. The location of an uprooted pine tree that caused a blackout Wednesday in a commercial area of Chesterfield was spotted cut up along Old Clarkson Road later. Ameren reported the uprooted pine tree fell on heavy feeder lines, and caused the outage about 11:45 a.m. on Nov 9. Ameren said the primary line was back supplying power an hour later, but some customers said they did not have power until at least 2 p.m. Winds gusted up to at least 25 mph Wednesday. Ameren said they sent workers Wednesay to take the tree off the power lines, and cut it up. Downed pine branches and sawed logs were visible Friday at a spot were an orange traffic cone sat along the road. Wires above had distinct loops on them, that may or may not be indications of repair…

Plus, what's left at Suburban Leisure on discount, as it enters the home stretch of going-out-of-business sale?
While 50-year-old Suburban Leisure landmark store is busy going-out-of-business with its last sale, the 70-year-old retired owner already has started another business. Harvey Keymer successfully launched In Home Caregivers not too long after retiring in 2008, while his son continued to operate the patio-living store at 14001 Olive Blvd., in Chesterfield. "It's a happy ending," son Scott Keymer said Monday, as he watched liquidators easing shoppers into buying the last of quality—if pricey— products the store was known for carrying. The elder Keymer was nowhere to be found, since he manages his new business of in-home care for those housebound by age or health and who need some help. The younger Keymer described his father's new venture. "…
