Gunfire During Robberies a Rarity for Chesterfield

The armed robbery of a Crazy Bowls and Wraps Oct. 20 is estimated to be only the second time in the city's history when shots were fired during such an incident.

With the city of Chesterfield only 25 years old, the Chesterfield Police Department is estimating that armed theft of a Crazy Bowls and Wraps last Saturday is only the second time in the its history were shots have been fired during a robbery. The last time an armed robber fired a weapon during a hold-up occurred more than 18 years ago, according to Chesterfield Police Capt. Steve Lewis. In that instance, the resulting gunfire proved deadly.  "The only [other] robbery we had where shots were fired ended up being a homocide because the shots were fired into the victim," he said in an email to Patch.  Robberies themselves are not altogether uncommon in Chesterfield. Chesterfield Armed Robbery Triggers Questions About Conceal and Carry

Chesterfield Restaurant Robbed Saturday Had Just Opened

Business had only been open for nearly two months.

Usually the grand opening of a restaurant can be hectic and exciting. That initial rush of business, figuring out what works and what doesn't and trying to make first customers repeat customers.  Rarely, however, does that excitement take the form of gunfire, but that was the case for Chesterfield's newest Crazy Bowls and Wraps, which opened Sept. 4 at Airport Road.  With not even two months in operation, the restaurant was robbed Saturday at around 10:45 a.m. by a masked man armed with a handgun. He fired a shot during the robbery, but no one was injured.  The Chesterfield Police Department was still seeking a suspect as of Tuesday evening, who was described as a black male with a thin build, approximately 5'9", and wearing a black jacket…
