Update: Follow Along As Steelman and Akin Debate

We're live blogging the debate between GOP Senate candidates Sarah Steelman and Todd Akin sponsored by the 'St. Louis Beacon' and KTRS-AM.

GOP Senate hopefuls Sarah Steelman and Todd Akin will debate the issues Tuesday morning at the Missouri Athletic Club-West. The event is sponsored by the St. Louis Beacon and KTRS-AM. The Beacon's Joe Mannies and KTRS-AM's McGraw Milhaven will moderate the debate. Steelman is a former state treasurer, while Akin is a U.S. Congressman. GOP House Candidates Debate For The First Time; Chesterfield's Drury

Ed Martin and Ann Wagner traded light jabs on endorsements and disagreed over immigration policy in the first debate for Missouri's new second district U.S. House seat.

Ten months before the August 2012 primary, voters had their first chance over the weekend to hear two contenders for the Republican nomination in  Missouri's newly re-drawn second Congressional district in the St. Louis area. Ed Martin and Ann Wagner, who were both in the audience in May when Todd Akin announced he would run for the Senate instead of another term in the House, were in Chesterfield and back together for a debate at the Drury Plaza Saturday afternoon. Chesterfield Area High Schools Field Strong Debate Teams

Debate students from Parkway West, Parkway Central and Marquette high schools will participate in national tournament.

The word “forensics” may bring to mind a favorite episode of a crime drama, but that’s not all it means. Forensics can also refer to an argumentative exercise—a debate. For several students at Parkway West, Marquette and Parkway Central high schools, the latter meaning more quickly comes to mind. The schools were well represented in state and national competitions in the 2010-2011 debate season. “There is a tradition of debate at Parkway West,” said Cara Hurst, English teacher and the team’s sponsor for the past three seasons. “This has been our most successful year by far because the students worked so hard.”   West’s team was anchored by a strong group of seniors including Saad Amir, Taha Aziz, Zach Goldford, and Talan Tyminski.
