FOX2 'You Paid For It' Report Targets Parkway Schools Chief Over Salary

Fox 2 News questions a salary bump given to Dr. Keith Marty and compares the pay to Ladue's top administrator.

How much is too much in tough economic times? That is the question FOX2's Elliott Davis asked in this week's "You Paid For It" report which asked the head of the Parkway School District Board to defend the $7,000 raise given to second year Superintendent Dr. Keith Marty. Marty's salary is currently $227,000. Davis questioned School Board President Beth Feldman about the move, considering the economic challenges which have forced the district to make cuts elsewhere. Davis contrasted that with action taken by the Ladue School district when it named Dr. Marsha Chappelow as its superintendent, at a lower rate than her predecessor. Fair comparison? Tell us what you think!

Shame on him for taking that increase! I live in the district and it makes me so angry when they lay off staff who are there to support our children and then give this man a raise. Parkway district residents need to take a stand!!!   more ›

Patch: School administrators always say they hope budget cuts are done in a way that will have the least possible impact on daily classroom functions.  How will parents and students most notice the impact of cuts the district had to make last year? Dr. Marty: Parents shouldn’t notice any changes in daily classroom functions as no classroom teachers were laid off during the budget cuts.  Our goal was to keep the budget cuts as far…

I considered commenting on the "contents" of this article, but quite frankly it's all snake oil and would be a waste of time that needs to be devoted to putting my children first. Also I am not sure I can word it better than the first comment. I will say that Dr Marty is right on one account, Parkway does have a reputation for success and concern for their students, which is why I can only hope …   more ›
