Marquette, Parkway South Rank No. 4 and 9 in Missouri in U.S. News Survey

Marquette's ranking is a step up from last year's ranking by the magazine. Do you agree with the list? Parkway South was the only Parkway school to be in the top 26.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the location of Marquette High School Marquette High School in Clarkson Valley was one of two Rockwood district schools—and the only school that serves Chesterfield students—to make the 2013 list of top-ranked Missouri schools released by U.S. News & World Report today. Meanwhile, Parkway South High School was the only Parkway district school to make the top 26 in the magazine's survey, and, in fact, busted into the top 10 with a ranking of ninth. Marquette High also made last year's list, ranked at No. 5. Jim, I must apologize, my initial response was not accurate. Although the Rockwood School District does lists the address for the school as in Chesterfield, I have just confirmed with Chesterfield city government officials that it is in fact in Clarkson Valley. I would also add that the school's address is listed incorrectly on Google Maps as well.   more ›

Editor's Note:  Part 1 of this article previously was published this week as 'Picture Rockwood' Feedback Summarized. That article highlighted findings based on telephone surveys conducted last month. This article continues with other information classified as "key findings" from the entire community engagement process began in September. Picture Rockwood co-chairs will present their recommendations during Thursday's (Jan. 10) Board of Education directors' meeting. 14 Rockwood Teachers Earn National Board Certification

Two of these 14 Rockwood School District educators work in Marquette High School in Chesterfield. Nearly 100 now are certified.

Fourteen additional Rockwood School District teachers earned the profession’s top honor in teaching excellence—National Board Certification—according to a district announcement. Rockwood Teacher Writes Fiction Novel

This Wildwood Middle School teacher and assistant band director at Eureka High School used writing to deal with her grandmother's fight with Alzheimer's.

Denise Dauw, a 1997 graduate of Marquette High School, has turned a difficult loss into the foundation for a new, young adult fiction:  If Music Be The Food Of Love. The story ties her experience of losing her grandmother to late-onset Alzheimer’s disease to music performance, family, romance and medicine. "In the final stages of her illness, talking to my grandmother didn't draw a response," Dauw said in a Rockwood School District announcement. "However, when I sang to her, she opened her eyes, turned to me and tried to speak.
