Whitfield School will have a March 15 dedication ceremony.
Field hockey at Whitfield School will be played on Janet Esrock Memorial Field after a March 15 ceremony, the school announced Thursday. Esrock, a Chesterfield resident, died from injuries in a car crash just minutes from home on Wildhorse Creek Road, in August. Her son, a Whitfield student, was seriously injured in the crash but survived. Esrock was a field hockey coach and math teacher at the private school in Creve Coeur. Four seniors at Marquette High School made official plans this month to play Division I field hockey.
A strong performance from the Marquette High School girls field hockey team earned them the winningest-record in the team's history and a top-four finish in the state tournament. Now, the accomplishments of four of the team's top contributors last fall have earned the lady Mustangs the chance to compete at the highest collegiate level. Christine Albertelli has signed with University of New Hampshire. Albertelli started her last three years with the team and captained her senior year on the tails of all-conference honors her last two seasons. In 2010, Albertelli was a 1st team All-Metro player, and was nominated for the NFHCA All-Region/All-American team. She also is a member of the NFHCA High School National Academic squad.
