Smoke in Cabin, Pilot OK After Emergency Landing at Chesterfield Airport

Monarch fire crews were called to an "aircraft crash" at Spirit of St. Louis Airport Wednesday morning, but say the pilot landed the plane safely with the landing gear up.

The Monarch Fire Protection District responded to what was initially a call for a plane crash at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport Wednesday morning. However, emergency responders say the pilot of the small plane was able to land safely, despite smoke in the cabin and not using the plane's landing gear. Monarch released the following details of the incident in a news release. Two-Alarm Fire Rips Through Side of Chesterfield Home

The blaze damaged several floors at a residence in the 15000 block of Appalachian Trail Drive Friday afternoon, but two occupants home at the time were able to make it out safely.

A two-alarm fire caused extensive damage to several floors of a Chesterfield home in the 15000 block of Appalachian Trail Drive this afternoon, but no one was injured in the blaze. Two occupants home at the time reported the fire with a 911 call sometime before noon on Friday after safely exiting the house. Crews with the Monarch Fire Protection District arrived to find smoke pouring out of windows on the second floor, but soon discovered the fire extended down to the basement, were Monarch Fire Marshall Roger Herin said it likely started. As firefighters battled, flames emerged on one side of the house, producing such extensive heat that it damaged the side on a nearby home. UPDATE: Monarch Firefighters Respond to Two-Alarm Fire on Carriage Crossing Lane

Nobody was home at the time of the fire. Firefighters tweeted a picture of the scene in the 1400 block of the street.

Firefighters from the Monarch Fire Protection District are on the scene of a residential fire in the 1400 block of Carriage Crossing Lane in Chesterfield. The department tweeted a picture from the scene this morning.  Firefighters received the emergency call at approximately 8:30 a.m. Fire Marshal Roger Herin said the property appeared to be a total loss as a result of the two-alarm fire.  Herin said no one was home at the time of the fire and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.  Although the fire is under control, Herin said firefighters are still putting out hot spots around the property.
