New eatery in Chesterfield has foundation too.
A new eatery that opened Tuesday in Chesterfield on Clarkson Road has a foundation that saves lives when you carry out a 5-gallon pickle bucket for $2. Firehouse Subs (in same shopping center as Trader Joes) hosts the Public Safety Foundation in conjunction with the sandwich shop started by two firemen brothers in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994. The Sorensen brothers launched the Firehouse Subs foundation in 2005 after feeding Hurricane Katrina rescue workers some 20,000 pounds of food and water, officials said. Free drinks for firefighters anytime.

Furthermore, franchise owner Robert Phillips designed his locally-themed mural inside the shop to include a Monarch fire truck, as well as Busch Stadium, St. Louis Cardinal Ozzie Smith, and references to the Cardinals' World Series wins (a firehose blasting a Detroit Tiger!) Actual firefighters are qualified for free drinks anytime at Firehouse Subs, Phillips said. The eatery opens Tuesday and is located on Clarkson Road in the Trader Joes shopping center, just west of Highway 40. Phillips, and his wife Lisa are Wildwood residents, he told …

Two brothers with 200 years of firefighting heritage behind them turned to food business.
A new Chesterfield eatery, Firehouse Subs, is hiring and opens Monday on Clarkson Road near Trader Joes. Firehouse Subs was founded by two firefighting brothers in 1994 from a firefighting family, Chris and Robin Sorensen, who had a taste for oversize portions and firehouse decor. This shop has a hand-painted mural featuring the Gateway Arch and Spirit of St. Louis airplane flown by Charles Lindbergh. According to the company website, the brothers also created a foundation in 2005 that has given $3.5 million across 335 communities in the form of life-saving equipment, educational opportunities and funding to first-responders: Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation The shops also claim to have 120 combinations of beverages through a Coca-…
