Commerce CEO Departure a Mystery for Chesterfield

Chamber directors mum: "Not anyone's business."

There's been no public explanation for the abrupt departure of Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Robey Taylor after six months on the job. Reached after his desparture, which was announced in a brief email from the Chamber board of directors, Taylor was unwilling to provide any insight. He suggested contacting the president of the Chamber board of directors, Jennifer Hill. Hill said Thursday by phone that "it really isn't anyone's business" as to why Taylor separated from the top post. Taylor had previously been Chamber president of the board of directors. Chesterfield Commerce Chief Quits After Six Months

No explanation yet. Hired after 4-month search.

The new executive director of Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce resigned the post Tuesday, effective immediately, according to an announcement by the board of directors. There was no explanation of why Robey Taylor quit, after a four-month long search to hire him following the death of Joanie Schmelig who served as Chamber leader for 30 years. Schmelig died after a persistent illness in early August 2011. Taylor's hire was announced in December by Don Meyer, then-chairman of the Chamber board. At the time, Meyer said this about Taylor: "We are excited to have Robey on board to continue to grow and expand the many great programs." Meyer said a search committee and a "diverse group of business leaders" provided input on the hiring of Taylor. …
