Neighborhood Schnuck's Walls Up, Traffic Changed

Wow, that was fast!

The walls are up at the new Schnucks market at Kehrs Mill and Clarkson roads. Traffic signals and extra turn lanes are also functioning at the revamped intersection there. Most of the winter, work progressed on grading the site and laying what appeared to be foundations. Now, a giant crane appeared to be dropping the walls—that look like brick—into place at the heavily traveled corner. Some neighbors opposed the market, but Schnucks said it is a smaller, boutique-style store, tailored to the needs of the area. Others have said it's a handy location. Whatever the intention the Ballwin board of alderman may have had when they voted to rezone the residential property to commercial property so that Schnucks could build the store, they weren’t thinking clearly, it would seem. They did not insist that the homeowners with adjoining properties to the new Schnucks be compensated for the damage to their property values. It’s hard to imagine why or how…   more ›
