February 6 is the first day high school seniors can confirm their college choices. The University of Missouri, Ohio State and Oklahoma State are among the NCAA schools looking to St. Louis for recruits.
College coaches are getting their money's worth out of fax machines today. This is the first day high school seniors playing Football, Baseball Field Hockey, Soccer, Track and Field, Cross Country, Men's Water Polo can submit a signed letter of intent to play at the college level. Sheperd, Boyher and Wille will move on to play football, baseball and tennis.
Superlatives could be used to describe the three Parkway Central student-athletes who signed to play at the next level Wednesday, but they're not needed. Their accomplishments speak for them. Brandon Sheperd will play football at Oklahoma State University, Logan Boyher will be on the baseball diamond at Columbia University and Hannah Wille will play tennis at the University of Cincinnati. Logan Boyher’s mother Gayle Boyher said she’s never seen him at home not doing homework, except when he was in the basement, lifting, and it’s paid off. The last time Boyher earned a “B” was in his sophomore year. Four seniors at Marquette High School made official plans this month to play Division I field hockey.
A strong performance from the Marquette High School girls field hockey team earned them the winningest-record in the team's history and a top-four finish in the state tournament. Now, the accomplishments of four of the team's top contributors last fall have earned the lady Mustangs the chance to compete at the highest collegiate level. Christine Albertelli has signed with University of New Hampshire. Albertelli started her last three years with the team and captained her senior year on the tails of all-conference honors her last two seasons. In 2010, Albertelli was a 1st team All-Metro player, and was nominated for the NFHCA All-Region/All-American team. She also is a member of the NFHCA High School National Academic squad. Mizzou 82, Norfolk 67. Mizzou traditionally fizzles in March, but they should have this one easily. SLU had an amazing season, but they will lose by 20. Memphis is baddd.   more ›
