Patrick McCormick, 55, of Chesterfield was sentenced to one year in St. Louis County Jail Friday by Associate Circuit Court Judge Thomas Prebil. McCormick pleaded guilty to driving into a teacher's car while he was drunk on August 26, 2011. The one-year jail sentence was for a second-degree assault charge. He was also initially given five years in prison on the manslaughter charge, but the sentence was suspended and he was placed on five years probation. McCormick also must seek alcohol counseling and wear an alcohol monitoring SCRAM bracelet for one year after his release from jail. A 55-year-old Chesterfield man who drove drunk into a teacher's car nearly a year ago, killing her, is due to be sentenced at 9 a.m. today in a St. Louis County court.
On August 26, 2011, Patrick McCormick, drove his car around a curve on Wildhorse Creek Road in Chesterfield and, according to officials, crossed over the center line and crashed into Janet Esrock's car head-on, critically injuring Esrock, and her teen son Jonathan. Esrock, 50, died two weeks later on September 11. Her son remained hospitalized for a few more weeks, sustaining injuries that left him several broken bones. Today, a little more than a year later, McComick is set to appear in court to receive his sentencing. McCormick plead guilty on June 22 to involuntary manslaughter and assault of second degree. Prosecutors say a Chesterfield man could face seven years in prison for causing the death of Chesterfield teacher Janet Esrock, when he drove drunk into her car on Wildhorse Creek Road. Patrick J. McCormick, 53, pleaded guilty Friday morning to first-degree involuntary manslaughter involving a DWI and second-degree assault, in St. Louis County Circuit Court. Chesterfield resident Patrick McCormick to be arraigned on charges Nov. 9 in St. Louis County courts.
A St. Louis County Grand Jury indictment was unsealed in court last week in connection with the crash that killed Chesterfield resident and Whitfield School teacher Janet Esrock. McCormick is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 9 on the two criminal counts in St. Louis Circuit Court. The indictment against Patrick McCormick, 53, of Chesterfied, includes identical criminal charges to those filed by prosecutors in the case, First Degree Involuntary Manslaughter and Second Degree Assault, according to the office of state courts administrator website CASENET. A Chesterfield man charged in the Aug. 26 car crash on Wild Horse Creek Road in Chesterfield that led to the death of Chesterfield school teacher Janet Esrock, was free on reduced bail Thursday afternoon. Patrick McCormick, 53, left St. Louis County jail in Clayton after posting $10,000 or ten percent of his $100,000 bond. He turned himself in to St. Louis County police Wednesday afternoon. McCormick was charged Wednesday morning with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault DWI. Judge Lawrence J.
