Parkway Student Who Suffered Brain Injury On the Road to Recovery

Alison Owen has left the intensive care unit of St. Louis Children's Hospital, according to updates provided by her family, and has begun physical therapy.

The Parkway West sophomore who suffered a brain hemorrhage and other injuries during a car accident earlier this month is out of intensive care. Alison Owen remains a patient at St. Louis Children’s Hospital but since moving out of the ICU on Feb. 12, she has been undergoing physical therapy and making good progress, according to Owen’s profile on CaringBridge.com. Owen’s injuries, including broken vertebrae and bruised lungs, were the result of a car accident in Chesterfield Feb. 1. Her family has been providing updates on her recovery through CaringBridge and her fellow high school students have produced an outpouring of support in response.
