Real, Personal Property Taxes Are Due December 31

The St. Louis Department of Revenue has four offices to serve patrons.

Missouri state law requires real property and personal property taxes to be paid by Dec. 31, 2012. Tax payments must be postmarked or received by Dec. 31, or will be considered delinquent. Delinquent payments are subject to late charges of 2 percent interest per month, or any portion thereof, with a maximum of 18 percent per year, plus a 2 percent penalty. Self-addressed courtesy reply envelopes are included with the tax bill for mailing payments. Real property and personal property tax payments may be submitted on one check and mailed in one envelope. If the self-addressed envelope is not used, taxpayers can find the mailing address on the back of the tax bill. The last day to pay tax bills in person is Monday, Dec. 31, 2012. Revenue …

Chesterfield Residents Shoulder Cost for Fire, EMS Dispatching

Because dispatch fees are based on assessed property valuations, Chesterfield residents are paying more than $40 per call over what other communities are paying.

Chesterfield residents are paying far more than their fair share for dispatching fire and ambulance calls in West County. In fact, along with Town and Country property owners, they are paying part of the cost for people in Maryland Heights, Creve Coeur and Manchester, plus portions of unincorporated St. Louis County and Franklin County.  The Central Country Emergency 911 Center in Ellisville dispatches fire and EMS services for five St. Louis County fire districts and two Franklin County ambulance districts. Under a separate contract, they also dispatch for Town and Country, which contracts fire and EMS services with West County EMS and Fire Protection District.   Right now, Chesterfield residents are paying $42.51 over the actual cost per…
