Police are waiting for lab results to confirm the identity of the substance found on the suspect.
Police are investigating possible charges for heroin possession for a shoplifter who took items from a department store in Chesterfield Mall. Mall security caught the suspect, described as a 30-year-old female, after she attempted to conceal clothing and then take it without paying from Dillards April 4. Chesterfield Police Officer Michael Ryffel said she could be charged with possession of a controlled substance in addition to a stealing misdemeanor. “The substance that we believe to be heroin, pending testing, was found on her person during booking,” he said. The incidents occurred on the same day a little more than an hour apart but are not believed to be related.
Security personnel at Walmart stopped two individuals in incidents only hours apart who each tried to steal more than $500 in video games and other electronics from the retailer’s Chesterfield Valley location earlier this month. The alleged thefts occurred Feb. 8 when police said a 31-year-old female tried to walk out of the store with video games concealed on her clothes at 4:30 p.m. She was detained by Walmart security until Chesterfield Police arrived, who also discovered that the woman had a pipe suspected of being used for smoking narcotics. A little more than an hour later at 5:57 p.m., a 49-year-old male attempted something similar when he allegedly tried to push a cart full of electronics out of the store without paying, according …

They tried to simply push the cart out the door at the retailer's Chesterfield location without stopping to pay.
Chesterfield Police are charging three individuals with larceny after they piled up a grocery cart with more than $500 in merchandise from Walmart and tried to leave without paying. The suspects in the Dec. 15 incident, a 18-year-old male, 22-year-old male and 20-year-old female, could face felony charges, since the items stolen totaled more than $500. Police said the cart contained groceries and household goods. The suspects made no attempt to conceal any of the items. "They just wheeled the cart through the door into the waiting arms of security. A recent Chesterfield Police report lists twelve incidents of shoplifting around the Chesterfield area.
It looks like the prices at Walmart just aren’t cheap enough for some people. Shoplifters hit Walmart on THF Boulevard on five different occasions between June 26 and July 7. None of these criminals were teens on a lark, but people ranging in age from 23 to 48 years old. One woman took jewelry, another lifted electronics and two other women took what police described as “undisclosed merchandise under $500.” The lone male crook in this spree was fairly bold. He placed a TV, valued under $500, in a cart and just tried to walk out of the store with it. Mean while, Target on THF Boulevard only reported one incident of shoplifting. On June 26 an unknown subject concealed electronics and makeup and left the store without paying. On July 10, …
