Rockwood Interviews Candidates for Interim Superintendent Position

The school board conducting the interviews during a closed session on Monday and hope to have the interim spot filled by July 1.

The Rockwood School Board is on track to name an interim superintendent by July 1 who will oversee district operations while the search for current Superintendent Bruce Borcher’s permanent replacement is conducted. Borchers has accepted a contract to helm the Oak Ridge School District in Tennesse, and his last day at Rockwood will be June 7. On Monday, the board met in a closed session to interview candidates for the interim appointment, which will likely last for one year, according to Chief Communications Officer Kim Cranston. “When a board decides to appoint an interim, it’s usually done fairly informally,” Cranston said. “The board is looking for an experienced, veteran superintendent.” When it comes to finding a permanent replacement…

Parkway Superintendent Search Delayed

Though the search was anticipated to end in December, a decision is now expected in January.

The Parkway School District is still searching for its next superintendent. Although a new chief was expected to be named in December, the official decision is now expected in January or later, according to a news release issued Wednesday. Under the guidance of interim superintendent Don Senti, the school district is trying to replace Robert Malito, who retired last summer after starting as Parkway's superintendent in July of 2004. Parkway High Schools to Install Turf on Athletic Fields

Installation at the four high schools will begin in the spring. Fields should be complete by August 2011 in time for fall sports.

Parkway high school athletic fields are slated for a facelift. The Parkway Board of Education unanimously approved the purchase of synthetic turf for the four fields at Parkway Central, West, North and South high schools Wednesday night. ATG Sports, the low bidder on the project, will install the fields. ATG Sports as installed 13 synthetic turf fields in the St. Louis area, according to a district press release. Costs are estimated at $2,864,558. The money for the installation will come from the bond issue voters approved in 2008, which included $3.2 million for athletic field upgrades. The switch from grass to synthetic turf will allow the fields to be used for more activities, including physical education classes and marching band …

I heard from Parkway Central High School Athletic Director Mike Roth. He said he was excited about the decision and ready to get the ball rolling and install the turf. Roth added that junior varsity games and practices—including soccer and field hocker practices—will be held on the field once the turf is installed.   more ›

Parkway School Board to Review Superintendent Candidates

The board meets in a closed season tonight to discuss candidates and will begin interviews in early December.

The Parkway School Board meets in closed session tonight to discuss candidates to fill the district's superintendent seat. Interviews with prospective candidates start the next week. The search began after Robert Malito retired as superintendent at the end of the 2009-10 school year. Malito was Parkway's eighth superintendent and began working for the district in 2004. Don Senti was hired to serve as Parkway's interim superintendent for this school year. Senti is a retired school administrator who worked 25 years in the Parkway School District, including serving as superintendent from 1988 to 1995. Parkway Moves Forward in Superintendent Search

Consultant group has released results of an online survey and focus groups that will be used to screen candidates.

Consider the want ad posted. After holding focus groups and tallying results of a communitywide survey, the consultant group hired to assist in Parkway School District's search for its next superintendent has a pretty good idea what people want of the new leader. That leader needs to be focused on student achievement, have an inspiring vision and possess strong communication skills.
