All you need to succeed is the help of a notorious little how-to book and an optimistic attitude. J. Pierrepont Finch possesses both as he attempts to rise to the top rung of the World Wide Wicket Company. Parkway Central High School's impressive performance of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" embodied all aspects of a big corporation and life in the 1960s and seemingly did so—without really trying. By Tally Portnoi of Mary Institute St. Louis Country Day School Once upon a time, at Marquette High school, a talented cast and crew told an enchanted story in their production of "Into the Woods," complete with princes, fairies, and witches. "Into the Woods" is a musical by Stephen Sondheim with book by James Lapine. The show premiered in San Diego’s Old Globe Theater in 1986 and then moved to Broadway in 1987. The musical is a modern twist on classic fairy tales. A host of familiar characters go into the woods to fulfill their wishes. Jack (of Jack and the Beanstalk) and his mother are short on money, so Jack is sent into the woods to sell his beloved cow, Milky White. Little Red goes into the woods to visit her grandmother. By Mia Kweskin of Parkway Central High A pool of still water sits silently…within an instant the still water erupts in violent waves, no sooner it returns to a state of pure calmness. Such an ever-changing body of water symbolically reflects the transformative nature of mankind. Clayton High School took on the themes of change and love in their production of Metamorphoses. Based on the myths of Ovid, Mary Zimmerman’s "Metamorphoses" opened on Broadway Feb. 21, 2002. Zimmerman won the 2002 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play. The central pool of water symbolizing change serves to connect a series of vignettes. Each vignette centers on one or two figures of Greek mythology including King Midas, Alcyone and Ceyx, and Erysichthon. In …
