The Missouri Department of Transportation reports its St. Louis work zones for Dec. 20-26.
The opening of an additional lane on northbound Interstate 270 and ramps on I-55 will mean smoother travel for some area commuters. Wednesday afternoon, MoDOT crews opened a new northbound lane on Interstate 270 between I-44 and Manchester Road (Route 100). The new lane of roadway will increase the number of vehicles that can travel through the area during morning rush hour and decrease congestion for commuters. In Jefferson County, MoDOT crews opened the eastbound Route M entrance ramp to northbound I-55 and the northbound I-55 exit ramp to Route M. Ramps closed downtown Cardinals fans heading from the city to westbound Interstate 64 this week should remember that several ramps to westbound I-64 will remain closed until early September. The ramps from Broadway, 10th Street and 14th Street will be closed around the clock. Downtown commuters, to include Cardinal fans, will need to use Pine Street, Jefferson Avenue or Market/Compton to get back onto westbound I-64. Westbound I-64 closed downtown Friday night The Missouri Department of Transportation will close all westbound Interstate 64 lanes from the Poplar Street Bridge to Jefferson at 8:30 p.m., Friday after the Cardinals game begins. The 10th Street and 14th Street ramps to westbound I-64 will remain open. Motorists should use I-44 and Jefferson as a detour. Crews will open one lane at 6 a.m., Saturday, with a second lane open before noon. The far left lane on westbound I-64 will remain closed after noon. Rock will be blasted and cleared away to widen I-270, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Starting Tuesday, June 5, crews will close I-270 from Manchester Road to Big Bend for up to 15 minutes at approximately 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to blast rock as part of the widening construction. Crews will need to blast and then clear any rock from the roadway before reopening the interstate. Crews this weekend will close all lanes of westbound Interstate 64 downtown between Broadway and 21st Street. Ramps from 10th and 14th Street to westbound I-64 will remain open. All lanes will reopen by 3 a.m. Monday. The signed detour around the closure is Interstate 44 to Jefferson Avenue. Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:

A few permanent work zones will still see activity.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will restrict its construction work zones Friday at 12 p.m. through Monday for Memorial Day. Permanent work zones, such as the eastbound lane of Interstate 70, between St. Louis Avenue and Broadway, will remain in place. Crews will resume scheduled work zones on Tuesday morning. Starting after evening rush on Tuesday, May 29, crews will have one lane of eastbound Interstate 44 at Antire Road closed around the clock. The closure to make roadway repairs and resurface I-44 will last through September. Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:

MoDOT crews will be narrowing lanes on I-270 between Manchester Road and I-44. They'll also be doing maintenance work throughout the area in the next week.
Lanes narrowing on I-270 Missouri Department of Transportation crews have begun narrowing lanes on northbound and southbound Interstate 270 between Manchester Road and Interstate 44. Over the next week, motorists will see various night lane closures in this area for asphalt paving operations. The work is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays and is part of a two-year widening project on I-270. Painting, patching and striping Crews will be painting bridges, patching potholes and striping roads throughout the region next week. There will be lots of activity on Interstate 270 next week as crews make pavement repairs then narrow lanes and install barrier to begin work to add a northbound lane between Interstate 44 and Manchester Road. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday crews will close up to three lanes of northbound I-270 from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. in this area. Additionally, Sunday and Monday, crews will close up to two lanes on northbound I-270 off-ramp at Manchester to make pavement repairs. One lane will remain open on the ramp. In St. Louis, two eastbound lanes on Interstate 64 at 11th Street and the exit ramp will be closed this weekend. The lane closures will start at 7:30 p.m., Friday and will occur throughout the weekend until 5 a.m., Monday. Motorists are urged to use the 6th Street or 14th Street exit ramps on I-64. On I-70, two westbound reversible lanes will close starting at 7 p.m., Friday throughout the weekend until 5 a.m., Monday. Crews will repair the barrier wall in this area. Be aware of slow-moving vehicles painting stripes on roadways during non-peak traffic hours.
Missouri Department of Transportation crews will close two lanes of eastbound Interstate 64 from Jefferson Avenue to the Poplar Street Bridge this weekend to paint portions of the bridge. All ramps from the interstate will remain open to allow drivers to get to the various events in downtown St. Louis.
