A Monarch Fire Protection District official said quick action from firefighters helped extinguish the flames before they could spread to the rest of the structure.
An apartment fire in Chesterfield Friday morning did only minimal damage and caused no injuries thanks to quick action from firefighters, Monarch Fire Protection District officials said. Fire Marshal Roger Herin said they received a 911 call about a fire in the 16600 block of Marcross Court at 8:12 a.m. Friday. The small blaze had started on the deck of a third floor apartment, but firefighters were able to quickly get it under control. “The fire crews did a great job of extinguishing the fire before it got into the apartment,” Herin said. The flames were kindled by the improper disposal of smoking material, according to Herin. However, even such small incidents can sometimes lead to bigger fires and serves as a caution to those with …

The Monarch Fire Protection District received a call at around 3:37 p.m. for a fire possibly started after the drill of a utility worker struck a wire.

The man noticed smoke coming from the ceiling and immediately called the fire department, a vital move, according to Herin. "It could have been a lot worse than it was," he said. Chesterfield Villas is located between North Outer 40 and Conway roads, just east of Chesterfield Parkway. When firefighters arrived, they had to tear down the ceiling to find the source of the smoke. The small…

A fire early Sunday morning at Chesterfield Place Apartments damaged more than 30 units and left two almost completely destroyed. Although the blaze itself was contained to the two most severely damaged units, others suffered minor smoke and water damaged, according to the Monarch Fire Protection District. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Monarch Fire Protection District Chief Tom Vineyard credited early warning and a quick response in preventing the spread an apartment fire Sunday morning. "There are firestops between some of the apartments, but it was the early notification and us getting in there quickly and knocking the fire down that prevented it from spreading," Vineyard said. Several individuals were treated for minor …
