Chesterfield Councilman Bob Nation will become the city’s next mayor, defeating fellow councilman Matt Segal in a race that was left wide open after current Mayor Bruce Geiger opted not to seek a second term. Nation's victory comes despite the fact that Segal heavily outspent his opponent. The campaign between the two men heated up as Election Day approached, with Nation going on the offensive. Nation targeted Segal’s ties to the commercial development community and criticized his support of a Community Improvement District (CID) for the future St. Louis Premium Outlet Mall.
