Senior-Living Facility Plans Await Council Vote

City Council is expected to vote on a proposal for a senior-living facility on Wild Horse Creek Road Monday night.

After eight years and several proposed plans, a tract of land on Wild Horse Creek Road could become a senior-living center. Chesterfield City Council is expected to vote Monday night on a proposed zoning change and a conditional use permit that would allow landowner and developer Rodney Henry to build an independent-living and assisted-living facility on eight acres. The Planning and Public Works Committee has recommended approval of both proposals. A plan for the land near the Chesterfield Academy child care center and Chesterfield Elementary School has long been in the works. The land was zoned several years ago for neighborhood offices—such as doctors' or dentists' offices— but Henry never broke ground. Aimee Nassif, the city's planning…

Committee Hears Proposal to Prohibit Commercial Vehicles in Neighborhoods

The Planning and Public Works Committee reviewed the draft ordinance and sent it back to staff to be revised.

I disagree with all you. I'm a tow truck driver who was recently cited for parking in my own driveway. I'm on call 24/7. When police dispatch us out to an accident, I have 15 minutes to get there. That would not be possible if I had to park it at the shop. This ordinance affects my ability to make money.   more ›

Heritage Foundation Asks City to Save Eberwein House, Barn

The house and barn, which are located on land the city plans to turn into a park, will be discussed again at Monday's city council meeting.

The Heritage Foundation of Chesterfield is back in action. After being dormant for three years, the foundation has come forward in an attempt to sway the city to keep the historical Eberwein house and barn. The city plans to turn the 18.5-acre area where the structures are located into a park. The more than 100-year-old structures' fate within those plans has been uncertain. City officials have considered bids to both repair them to historical standards or repair them for public use. They've considered razing the home, or simply doing damage control in a process called mothballing—which essentially buys time by repairing the structures to protect from further dilapidation while money is raised to restore it. The Heritage Foundation wants …

How sad for the city of Chesterfield. One can not recreat history and the loss of the only City owned historic structure would be a slap in the face to Chesterfield's heritage.   more ›
