Teacher Sexually Touched Home-Schooled Student, Police Say

Police said Joseph T. Maddock taught at several schools in St. Louis County since 2001. He's now being accused of sexually touching a 10-year-old student.

A teacher is being accused of sexually touching a 10-year-old student during a home school session in Lake Saint Louis. Joseph T. Maddock, who also worked for a number of West St. Louis County school districts, was charged Monday in St. Charles County with first-degree statutory sodomy. Lake Saint Louis Police said Maddock, 34, of the first block of Cedar Bluff in Lake Saint Louis, met the boy and his parents while he was teaching at another school. Police reported he convinced the boy’s parents to teach the boy in a home-school environment. Maddock had been teaching at the boy’s Lake Saint Louis home five days a week during the school year. Obviously, we walk a fine line between reporting that a person has been charged with a crime when they are innocent until proven guilty. Nicole's reasoning is a big part of why we proceed in this manner. But we also have police investigators and the prosecuting attorney's office saying, yes, a crime occurred here and we believe the evidence says this is the person who did it. And that's exactly …   more ›

The Secret Service is not yet officially involved in an investigation, but has advice for worried St. Louis County consumers.

'Chesterwild': Would you Support Merging Chesterfield and Wildwood?

A St. Louis County Official recently joked that combining the two cities would help end the debate over a sales tax sharing system that Chesterfield Mayor Bruce Geiger says needs reform.

During a recent debate over the St. Louis County’s sales tax sharing system and its impact on cities such as Chesterfield, a county official fired off an unusual solution – “Chesterwild.” The remark from St. Louis County Chief Operating Officer Garry Earls came during the Progress 64 West luncheon Feb. 21 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Chesterfield, according to an article in West Newsmagazine. Earls, a supporter of the system, had been discussing it with Chesterfield Mayor Bruce Geiger, a long-time opponent. At one point, Earl quipped that a merger of cities such as Chesterfield and Wildwood (which he dubbed “Chesterwild) made sense, claiming that a majority of people spending money in Chesterfield don’t actually live there. The context for …

Yes, the region has too many "small" cities, but merging Chesterfield and Wildwood is crazy, as both comprise large areas. It's the "ultra-small" municipalities that should merge. Gary J.   more ›

Some of the virus' common symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pains.

Although the flu is on everyone’s minds this season, the winter vomiting bug, or the norovirus, is making its rounds.
